Why dynamic reduction? Live sound always has too much dynamic range for ideal sound reinforcement. The on-board, fully analog circuitry inside every Lampifier microphone reduces this range naturally and transparently, rendering dynamics in a more ideal range. But it does so in an entirely different manner than conventional compressors.

Compression and limiting is almost exclusively "top down" which singers generally can't stand! This is because singing through such compression tends to cause singers to push overly hard to get even a bit of the intended dynamics out, and in the process, blow out their voice. So in typical live settings, the signal remains uncompressed, which causes a different problem: Quiet vocals get buried in the stage mix, while loud bit are overemphasized.

The Lampifier circuitry solves this problem ingeniously. Unlike standard compressors, Lampifier's unique compression technology reduces harsh plosives and pushes up light breathy nuances from BOTH directions (up and down) without "crushing" dynamics entirely. So singers can still feel and work with their normal dynamic range and the mic remains dynamically responsive, yet at the same time it actually delivers the levels more within the ideal live range. But alteration is generally unnecessary as the circuit is quite forgiving and largely self adjusting--a result of the compression ratio changing automatically based on input signal level.
